With its remote mid-Atlantic location and relatively small population of approximately 65,000 people on its 26 square miles, it is perhaps surprising to see that field hockey does, in fact, exist in Bermuda. In addition to its subtropical climate and pink sand beaches, it is fortunate enough to have use of the government run, water based AstroTurf facilities located at National Sports Centre, 50 Frog Lane, Devonshire.

Field hockey has been a popular sport for both locals and expatriate population. On a world stage, their National team and Federation teams have played in the Pan American Cups, Inter Island Competition and CAC Games.

If you are one of BHF’s members … Welcome to the newly renovated website!

If you are new to the island, coming soon, or interested in playing, Welcome! Please make use of our links and we hope to see you pitch-side soon!

Womens U21 – July Trip to Philadelphia

The Bermuda Under 21 Women’s Field Hockey Team (the “Bermuda Team”) will be traveling to King of Prussia, Philadelphia from 10 July – 17 July to train under US Olympic coaches and players for five days. Additionally, the Bermuda Team will be playing five games against local club teams in the area. This is a great opportunity for the Bermuda Team to gain exposure to a level of competitive field hockey that is not available on island. With numerous players looking to continue playing field hockey in University, it is important that our players understand the standards that a University team is going to expect. There are 18 girls traveling ranging in age from 11 to 21 years old. In addition the coaching staff will also be attending coaching sessions to bolster and improve the level of coaching available on island.

The coaching staff and the players are very much looking forward to this trip. This trip would not be possible without the support of Digicel/BTC and Hamilton Insurance Group. We are extremely grateful for their investment in the youth of Bermuda!
